RRC unveils interactive map of orphan wells

Using federal infrastructure funding, the Texas Railroad Commission has launched an interactive map of orphan wells that have been plugged or are scheduled to be plugged. The RRC received a $25 million initial grant in 2022 from the U.S.

COVID-19 cases rise in past week

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the past week in Texas rose to 39,019, with 131 deaths reported by theCoronavirus Resource Centerat Johns Hopkins University.

Quiet week for crime

No offense reports were available this week. In county jail activity: Sarah Jane Watkins, 47, was arrested on a fourth degree felony charge of possession of a controlled substance less than one gram. She was released on $3,000 bond.

City sales tax payment shows slight dip to start off the new year

The City of Perryton’s sales tax allocation dipped slightly for the first payment of the year. Thee city received a payment of $263,299, down 3% from last January. Around the area, most cities did see an increase. Amarillo received a payment of $8.1 million, an increase of 1.7% from January 2022.

Livestock show to spotlight over 100 animals

The 85h annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is slated for next weekend, Jan. 20-21, with preliminary activities beginning at mid-week. The Perryton High School FFA and the Ochiltree County 4H members will be showing 112 animals.
