Choir students qualify for state

Perryton High School choir members traveled to Canyon High School on Feb. 25 to compete in UIL Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest, with a number of students qualifying for the State competition in May.

County recognizes high rating for Clerk’s office

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning, Feb. 27, in the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The commissioners recognized the County Clerk’s office for earning an outstanding rating from the League of Women Voters of Texas in their 2022 general election county website review.

HALE NAMED CITIZEN OF THE YEAR

Charlotte Hale received congratulations from many well-wishers after she was named the Citizen of the Year on Feb. 23 during the Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet.

GRAND CHAMPION GOAT

GRAND CHAMPION GOAT—The award for Grand Champion Goat at the Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale on Jan. 20-21 went to Cash Wheeler. The animal was purchased by United Supermarket, Daddy’s Dogs, Dr. Rick Siewert, and Perryton Insurance.

More candidates file as two periods close

Several candidates signed up to run for Perryton School Board as the filing period for two of the three contests closed on Feb. 17. The school board drew two more candidates for the two three-year terms up on the board, Jed Symons and incumbent Loyd Cator.
