Early voting for May 6 elections starts Monday

Early voting begins this Monday, April 24, for the May 6 general election. The ballots will feature contested races for Perryton School Board and Perryton City Council, as well as two bond propositions by the Perryton ISD. The early voting period will run through May 2.

Ochiltree Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has partnered with Ochiltree County and other conservation organizations to highlight Soil and Water Stewardship Week and the importance of voluntary land stewardship in Texas.

Stone Age Fair is set for Saturday

The annual Perryton Stone Age Fair is scheduled for this Saturday, April 22. The fair will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ochiltree County Expo Center.

PATHWAYS PEERS— Perryton High School seniors who had signed up for the Pathways scholarship program got together recently to pick up new T-shirts and to meet with Pathways director Brenna Vela. Pathways is open to PHS freshmen and eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

Sunday showers bring little moisture

Perryton and Ochiltree County had a pair of short rain showers on Sunday, one in the early morning, the other in the evening. Both made a good show, with thunder, lightning, and intense rainfall, and a casual observer could easily be led to believe the rain would alleviate the county’s long drought.

BLASINGAME SPEAKS TO PARSPA— Dr. Jay Blasingame was the guest speaker at the Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association meeting on April 3. Dr. Blasingame, a 2006 PHS graduate, talked about his journey to become a general surgeon, and coming back to practice in his hometown.
