Leadership Perryton graduates 28

Graduation of the 21st class of Leadership Perryton was held recently at the First Methodist Church. Twentyeight members completed the nine-month leadership development course and received a special award at their graduation lunch.

County, area enjoy a week of plentiful rain

Perryton and Ochiltree County were treated to a week of almost-daily rainfall, ending the month of May with a precipitation total of 7-8 inches of rain, after a coupleof years of withering drought. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total for the past week was 3.10 inches of rain.

PISD board hires new AD, head football coach

The Perryton School Board hired a new athletic director, as well as several new staff, during a special meeting May 25. Cole Underwood, a Perryton High School graduate, was named the new athletic director and head football coach.

City sales tax payment is down for month of May

The City of Perryton’s sales tax allocation for May took a dip. The city’s payment of $286,077 was down 7.7%. For the year so far, the city has received $1.26 million, a drop so far of a little over 8% from 2022. Area cities were a mixed bag, with some up and some down.

Rifle and Pistol Club sets monthly meeting The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold itsmonthly meeting on Thursday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Expo Center. The club will be discussing new and ongoing projects.

State funds EMS student scholarships

The state is funding more than $9 million for 1,500 emergency medical services scholarships. The goal is to expand the state’s EMS workforce, especially in underserved and rural areas. The funding comes from legislation passed during the 2021 legislative session.
