Last public meeting on PISD bond proposal is Thursday

The final community meeting on the Perryton ISD’s proposed bond issue is set for this Thursday, April 27, in the Perryton High School auditorium. The first presentation will be in Spanish at 6 p.m., followed by an English presentation at 7 p.m.

Art show spotlights student talent

The show, featuring art created this year by PHS art students, will run from May 1-10 during school hours in the El Rancho at the high school. Visitors can also see the displayed art after school hours on May 1, during the Athletic Awards Ceremony, and on May 8, during the Academic Awards Ceremony.

Shooting suspect picked up in Graham after manhunt

An Ochiltree County resident accused in a shooting two weeks ago has been apprehended in Graham. Hezikiah Gaines, age 17, was arrested in Graham on April 24 and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Gaines’ bond has been set at $250,000.

The Best in Show and purchase prize award went to Adrian Navarrete for “Night at the Opera,” an ink pen drawing. Navarrete also received a $150 cash prize for his winning artwork.

Hospital board approves oxygen system update

The Ochiltree County Hospital District’s Board of Directors met on Monday evening at the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. Among other items on the agenda, the board ratified an update for the hospital’s oxygen system, which is undergoing renovation.
