PISD bond issues pass in Saturday general election

Both bond propositions in the Perryton ISD May 6 election were passed by voters by decisive margins in the May 6 general election. Proposition A, for $35.1 million, is for major renovations at Wright Elementary and Perryton High School had a total of 645 voting in favor and 408 voting against.

Perryton residents visited the downtown area on Thursday evening to enjoy the Fiesta Night event, sponsored by the Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber’s own booth invited visitors to judge a variety of homemade salsas for their salsa contest.

Children’s fishing tournament set for June at Lake Fryer

The Wolf Creek Improvement Board will host its annual Children’s Fishing Tournament in early June. The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, at Lake Fryer in Wolf Creek Park. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Pavilion east of the Lobo Restaurant.

Perryton High School students were honored and recognized Monday evening for their academic achievements during the year at the Academic Awards Banquet held in the Rangerette Gym. Caitlynn Thomas was announced as the valedictorian of the Class of 2023, with Alice Sofia Flores as the salutatorian.

Rotary Club flag service signup underway The Rotary Club is soliciting renewals and sign up forits flag service for residents of Perryton. They will provide a 3 x 5 foot nylon flag with sewn stripes and embroidered stars for homes, businesses, or in group displays in the community.
