Wheatheart parade winners are announced

The annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade was held Saturday morning on Main Street, where thousands of county residents turned out to enjoy the show. The Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the best entries in the parade.

OGH board discusses proposed tax rate

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met on Monday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. The board released the 2024 proposed budget and the proposed ad valorem tax rate.

City’s sales tax payment down 8%

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment in August saw a drop from August 2022. The city’s payment of $294,378 was down 8.6% from last August. Its payments for the year so far of $2.03 million are also down, a little over 7%.

WHEAT CONFERENCE MARKS 25TH YEAR— The 2023 Wheatheart Wheat Conference was held last Thursday morning at the Ochiltree County Expo Center. The conference, now in its 25th year, brought out a host of Extension experts for programs focusing on this year’s market outlook, insect management, weed management, and more. Ochiltree County Extension Agent Scott Strawn, pictured above, provided an introduction to this year’s conference.
