OGH board okays district purchases

The Ochiltree County Hospital District’s Board of Directors met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening at The Seasons Assisted Living Center. Among other items on the agenda, the board members approved a number of new purchases for the hospital.

ERCOT can’t be sued, high court rules

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday ruled that ERCOT, which operates the state’s power grid, is a government entity and is immune to lawsuits resulting from Winter Storm Uri in February 2021. The 5-4 ruling reversed a previous judgment from a Dallas appeals court, The Dallas Morning News reported.

EMERGENCY HAMBURGERS— With natural gas service out across most of the city — and much of their kitchen gas-powered, the Ochiltree County Senior Citizen Center had to make some quick changes last week. So the center’s chefs organized a quick hamburger cookout for last Friday’s lunch. Pictured waiting for the finished hamburger patties to go with all the fixins are, from left, Tahira Gonzalez, Daryla Allred, and Toni Boren.

Commissioners okay disaster related items

Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met for a regular meeting on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. County judge Charles Kelly opened the meeting by thanking county staff and emergency management personnel for their hard work during the disaster over the previous week.

Lone finalist named for Perryton ISD superintendent position

The Perryton School Board has named a lone finalist for the superintendent position. After a special board Meeting on June 22, the board named Greg Brown as the lone finalist. After a 21day waiting period, Brown will begin his service as the superintendent.
