This next Monday, Sept. 4, is Labor Day, and while not everyone will get to enjoy a long weekend, many local businesses have announced they‚ll be closed for the holiday.

WWI naval shipwreck found in Neches River

TheT exas Historical Commissionhas confirmed a shipwreck found in the Neches River dates to World War I. The wooden-hulled vessel was one of nearly 40 built in Beaumont by the U.S. Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation and abandoned when the war ended.

Rangers lose close one to Dalhart

The Rangers hosted the Dalhart Wolves Friday night, and lost a close 33-30 contest to the Wolves. The Rangers fought hard, but Dalhart’s quarterback, Kyler Read, and their big offensive and defensive lines were hard to stop. The game began on a high note for the Rangers.
