Usual readers— both of you, and a few relatives who sometimes read to see if I “got it right”—may remember that a month ago, I decided to put my “quill back in the goose” until September.

Kile awarded Purple Heart for Vietnam service

A local veteran will have his discharge papers from the Vietnam War amended to more accurately reflect his medals and honors. Bobby Kile was inducted into the U.S. Army in September 1965 and began serving in Vietnam in April 1966. He was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment.
PARADE WINNERS - SECOND PLACE NON-PROFIT—Ochiltree County residents lined Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 19 to watch the annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade. The second place prize for the Non-Profi t Float category went to the Wolf Creek Chapter of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.

PARADE WINNERS - SECOND PLACE NON-PROFIT—Ochiltree County residents lined Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 19 to watch the annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade.
