Rangers crush Levelland Lobos, 48-13, in 2-4A, DII opener at home

The Rangers picked up a decisive 48-13 win over the Levelland Lobos Friday night in Perryton, a capper to the homecoming activities. The win improves the Rangers’ overall record to 25 and 1-0 in district play.

Wright Elementary has released the honor roll for the first six weeks of school.

Little chosen as PPW Young Careerist

Tori Little has been chosen as the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club. Little is currently Perryton High School principal. She would consider her present employment her profession, noting “After 23 years in the field, I certainly hope so.”

Several people in jail

The Ochiltree County jail has been busy the past two weeks: Raymond A. Martinez, 28, was arrested on fourth degree felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, less than one gram and delivery of marijuana, over one-quarter ounce but less than five pounds.

United Way to launch 2024 drive

The Ochiltree United Way will kick off its 2024 fund drive Nov. 1. The drive is beginning about a month later than usual this year. The goal for this year’s fund drive is $94,300, which was allocated among nine agencies, which is the same as in 2023.

County 4-H holds annual awards presentation

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Ochiltree County Expo Center on Monday, Oct. 9. Ochiltree County Judge Charles Kelly presented the Gold Star Awards to Kile Merrick and Rylan Oquin. The Gold Star Award is the highest county award available to 4-H members.
