United Way tops goal

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2024 fund drive went over the top this week, and has now raised $97,237, which is 103% of its $94,300 goal. The professional division went over its goal as well, with four of the six divisions reaching or exceeding their individual goals, and the other two are close.

Holland to be next speaker in leadership series

Jody Holland of Amarillo will continue the Leadership Perryton XXII speaker series on Thursday, Jan. 11. His seminar, “The Motivation to Build Community”, will be at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus.
The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court held a brief meeting on Tuesday morning for the swearing-in ceremony for the county’s new Tax Assessor/Collector Angel Hernandez. She was appointed to the position after Linda Womble, the previous Tax Assessor/Collector, announced her retirement last month. Cody Devers dreamed of this moment from the time he was a young child. After two National Finals Rodeo qualifications and 14 go-rounds in Las Vegas, the Perryton native took the victory lap inside the Thomas & Mack Center.
Ochiltree County’s first baby of 2024 was this week at Ochiltree General Hospital. Rosalie Tejeda was born on Monday, Jan. 1, New Year’s Day, at 8:03 p.m. Her parents are Brian and Victoria Tejeda, and she was delivered by Dr. Rachel O’Beirne. Rosalie weighed seven pounds, four ounces and measured 19.4 inches.

Clothing House to temporarily close The Church of Christ Clothing House at 822 S. Drake will be closed until Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 9-4p.m. They will also be open Friday, Jan. 3 from 9-4p.m. and will resume normal hours after.

I hope you’re missing us as much as we pretend to miss you. That didn’t sound very nice…we are missing you, just not missing the work part. Kinda like you’re not really missing us, just the food part. We are quite entertaining at times, but not enough to make you come in MWF.
