In a monthlong series of stories about the fentanyl crisis, The Dallas Morning News determined through an analysis by The Perryman Group that the economic toll of the opioid crisis in Texas includes $50.1 billion in economic output each year and more than a half-million jobs.

Elks beat Rangers, 33-13

The Rangers traveled to Stratford last Friday to face the Elks, ranked no. 5 in the state in 2A, D1. Despite playing hard, the Elks came away with a 33-13 win, led by their talented quarterback Bryce Braden. The Rangers and the Elks traded possessions most of the first quarter.

Panhandle Grape and Wine Tour set Oct. 21 in Amarillo

The Panhandle Grape and Wine Tour, hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Potter and Randall counties, will be from 1-5 p.m. Oct. 21 and include visits to two vineyards. The event is limited to the first 30 people registered, with a registration deadline of Oct. 18.
