More than 50,000 migrants bused elsewhere

The state of Texas has bused more than 50,000 migrants to what Gov. Greg Abbott terms sanctuary cities since the launch of Operation Lone Star, his office announced. The migrants have been bused to Washington, D.C., New York City, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver and Los Angeles since April 2022.

County adopts jury selection plan

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met Monday morning in the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners adopted a jury selection plan for the county. The plan needs to be renewed periodically with the Texas Secretary of State’s office.

Lauren Schieffer of Bonner Springs, KS will begin the Leadership Perryton XXII speaker series on Thursday, Nov. 2. She will entertain you with a thought provoking and motivating session called “Leadership – It Starts With You” at Frank Phillips College Allen Campus in Perryton.

PHS students inducted into NHS

Perryton High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted more than 30 new members into the organization. The National Honor Society is a national organization dedicated to recognizing high school students who have attained high levels of academic achievement.

Remaining amendments explained; early voting underway

Texas voters will cast ballots on 14 proposed amendments to the state constitution on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Early voting began Oct. 23, and will run through Friday, Nov. 3. at the Ochiltree County Courthouse, first floor, south office. Early voting hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Oct. 23-Nov.
