Pathways Scholarship supporters and Chamber Music Amarillo will present The Amarillo Symphony Brass Quintet on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m. at the Perryton Junior High Auditorium. Tickets may be purchased at the Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce; $15 for adults and $5 for students.

United Way drive off to good start

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2024 fund drive is off to a good start, with $21,796 in contributions already. That is 23% of the $94,300 goal. The drive officially began Nov. 1. There is one 100% Company, meaning every employee contributed to United Way, Perryton Realty.

Wildfire Preparation, Response meetings in High Plains on Nov. 9

TheT exas A&M AgriLife Extension Servicewill host the Texas A&M AgriLife Wildfire Preparation and Response workshop Nov. 9 at locations in the Panhandle and South Plains region. The speakers will be in person at the Pampa location, with virtual satellite locations across the High Plains.

Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, wrote a syndicated newspaper column called “My Day” which included her thoughts on social and political issues. She wrote six columns a week from 1935 to 1962.
4H 150 POINT AWARDS— Ochiltree County 4-H held its annual awards ceremony Oct. 9 at the Expo Center. Members who accumulated 150 points or more received a certificate and the Donnie Pshigoda Points Scholarship, a $75 scholarship, sponsored by the Ochiltree County Soil and Water Conservation District in honor of Donnie Pshigoda. Hospital board reviews higher insurance quote

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met last Wednesday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. Among other items on the agenda, the board reviewed their property insurance quotes, learning that OGH’s insurance was going to rise sharply.

Amendment election is Nov. 7; last day to early vote is Nov. 3

Texas voters will have the opportunity to cast ballots on 14 proposed amendments to the state constitution on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Early voting began Oct. 23, and will run through this Friday, Nov. 3. at the Ochiltree County Courthouse, first floor, south office. Early voting hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
