Junior livestock show tops over $325,000 in sales

The Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale had another successful weekend. The sale totaled $328,960.05, which included $110,873 in add-on contributions. That was a drop from last year’s sale by more than $72,500. Showing the grand champion steer was Maddie Schickedanz.

Filing underway for city, school, hospital positions

Candidate filing is underway in the May 4 general election. The period opened on Jan. 17 and will run through Feb. 16. The Perryton City Council, which has two vacancies due to the resignations of Shae Cunningham and Shirley Howard, will also have a special election to fill those two positions.

Rotary Club names January Students of Month

The Perryton Rotary Club recognized Perryton High School seniors Analia Loera-Cervantes and Julian Cervantes as the club’s January 2024 Students of the Month. Loera-Cervantes is the daughter of Jesse and Cortney Cervantes and Gorge Loera. Her siblings are Jesus, Coda, Branen, Zaylea, and Kedrick.
