Alamo Club meets Jan. 9

The Ochiltree County 4H Alamo Club met Jan. 9 in the Expo Center meeting room. Vice president Rylan Oquin led the Pledge of Allegiance and conducted the business meeting, and the 4H pledge was led by Clay Oquin. The program, “How to Make a Friendship Bracelet,” was led by Rylan Oquin.

Coffee Memorial Blood Center declares emergency blood shortage

As winter weather moved into the area this past week, blood donors began cancelling appointments and blood drives were delayed, forcing an already struggling blood supply to critically low levels. This blood shortage has the potential to impact hospitals and patients in need.

Hansen gives program to Jennie Junes

The Jennie June Club met Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Perry Memorial Library. Hostesses were Barbara Johnson, Kris Erickson and Diana Wooster. The program was give by Mette Hansen, owner of The Flower Pot. She, her husband and their children immigrated to the United States 16 years ago from Denmark.

More than one third of state agencies are using some form of artificial intelligence, according to a 2022 report from the Texas Department of Information Resources. TheT exas Tribunereported agencies such as the Texas Workforce Commission are using chatbots to serve patrons.

Wildlife conference is rescheduled in Lubbock

The Texas Parks and WildlifeDepartment(TPWD), the Department of Natural Resources Management at Texas Tech University and the Texas Wildlife Association have rescheduled the Panhandle Wildlife Conference for Feb. 1-2, at Texas Tech University’s National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock.
