Commissioners approve airport grant resolution

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners discussed a resolution for a Texas Department of Transportation grant for runway improvements at the Ochiltree County Airport.

School board approves contracts

The Perryton Board met on Tuesday, March 19. The board heard a presentation from Bill Pinkham of the Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins, and Mott Law Firm. Their services include collecting delinquent taxes for school districts.

Ranger powerlifters win 4A state championship

The Ranger powerlifting team clinched the 4A state championship last week. In addition, senior Johnny Becerril was the state champion for the third consecutive year. He set state records in squat, bench, deadlift and total. He was also awarded the best deadlifter on light platforms.

Operation Lone Star effort

Operation Lone Star, the state’s border initiative, recently marked its third anniversary. According to Abbott’s office, the multiagency effort has led to apprehension of more than a half-million people believed to be here illegally.
