OUT-OF-STATE FIREFIGHTERS STATIONED IN PERRYTON—

OUT-OF-STATE FIREFIGHTERS STATIONED IN PERRYTON— Firefighters from California and Colorado have been stationed in Perryton for the past few weeks to serve as stand-by assistance for firefighters battling the Windy Deuce and Smokehouse Creek wildfires.

Jennie June Club celebrate its 75th anniversary March 13

The Jennie June Club met March 13 at First Christian Church, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the club. Penny Clark gave the program on the history of the club, which was formed March 17, 1949. It was organized by the Sorosis Club, which wanted to organize a junior club.
The Perryton Kiwanis Club held its 40th annual auction fund-raiser on Saturday, April 16, at the Ochiltree County Expo Center. This year’s auction included cars, pickups, trucks, trailers, boats, campers, motorcycles, workshop equipment, furniture, tool sets, welders, food baskets, gift certificates, and much more. Pictured organizing donations prior to the auction are, from left, front row, Ralph Gonzalez, Samantha Gonzalez, and Nikki Green; and back row, Daniel Chavira and Chase Allison.

A number of small tornadoes struck Ochiltree County on Sunday afternoon, damaging Ochiltree General Hospital, as well as other structures in the south part of the county. According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, there were actually three tornadoes in the county on Sunday.
