Commissioners talk about county’s emergency shelter

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.The commissioners spoke with head librarian Sandra Sears, who told them she would no longer be available to open the county’s storm shelter in the library basement after April.

Early voting opens April 22 for city, school elections

Early voting will begin in a little over a week for the May 4 general election for positions on The Perryton City Council and Perryton School Board.Early voting will be conducted from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 22-30 (except for Saturday and Sunday).
Students from Wright Elementary got to enjoy some time watching the solar eclipse on Monday afternoon. All students got their own pair of eclipse glasses so they could safely view the eclipse, but students in Donna Wright’s second grade class had their own paper plate-improved versions, partly so they’d make a better fit and partly for extra protection. Though Monday’s eclipse was only partial in Ochiltree County, the path of the total solar eclipse forecasted for August 2045 will pass over Perryton.

PHS Annual Spring Art Show set for April 15-May 15

The Perryton High School annual Spring Art Show is set for April 15 through May 15.The public can view the exhibit during school hours. The exhibit will also be open during the athletic and academic banquets May 6 and May 13.

Members of the Ochiltree County Senior Citizens Association gathered on Monday, April 1, for a retirement reception for Nancy Cain, the Senior Center’s head chef. Cain had been preparing meals at the Senior Center for 24 years. In addition to cards and well-wishes, Cain was also given a combination cat tree and cash tree by the members of the association.
