Barn quilt crafting session set at museum The Museum of the Plains will host a crafting session to paint barn quilts on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants will be able to paint a 12” by 12” barn quilt to take home. There is a $7 fee, but lunch and supplies are provided.

4-H members compete in spring contests

Six members of Ochiltree County 4-H participated recently in the Panhandle District 4-H Roundup Contests.The District 4-H Contests were held on the West Texas A&M University campus in Canyon on April 19-20.
With Perryton High School’s annual art show open through May 15, art judges presented awards for the Best Portfolios in the show. Each portfolio winner received a $25 cash prize.

Kerl, Rowlan chosen Students of Month

The Perryton Rotary Club recognized Kamri Kerl and Jaret Rowlan as the April Students of the Month.Kerl is the daughter of Amanda and Jake Kerl. Her siblings are Ethan and Berkley. At Perryton High School, she participates in volleyball, cheer, softball, and FFA.

Powerlifters are national champs

Four Perryton High School powerlifters competed in nationals last weekend in New Orleans, and brought home two championships.Seniors Jonathan Becerril and Vanessa Chavira won national titles in the event, Becerril in the 130 lb. weight class and Chavira in the 167 lb. weight class.

Commissioners discuss vehicle use policies

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning.The commissioners discussed potential changes to the county’s vehicle use policy.The new policy would require approval of the commissioners for many county employees to be allowed to take county vehicles home.

A full house was on hand for the candidate forum on Monday evening at the Ochiltree County Senior Citizen Center as candidates for the Perryton City Council and Perryton Independent School District Board discussed the issues facing their offices.Dr.
