Construction on Ochiltree General Hospital’s new Rural Health Clinic is continuing, as crews have been busy this week preparing the clinic’s exterior. Hospital officials say they hope the clinic will be completed in the next few months.

Wheatheart Celebration to mark 105 years of Perryton

August is upon us, which means this year’s Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration is ready to begin.The Perryton Ochiltree County Chamber of Commerce has released their schedule for this year’s festival.Currently scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2, is a Community Free Swim Day from 1-7 p.m.
The Perryton Municipal Water Park has been busy all this season with kids and grownups looking for a cool break from hot summer temperatures, whether it’s swimming in the pool, riding the lazy river, sliding down the water slides, getting drenched in the splash pad, or relaxing next to the pool. There will be a Community Free Swim Day on Friday, Aug. 2, from 1-7 p.m., and the pool’s last day for the season will be Saturday, Aug. 3.

The chapter had recently had a program on the efforts of the medical community during the 2023 tornado. Information was given on how OGH responded to medical needs, who came to help and what was learned from the experience. Museum sets hypertufa planter session The Museum of the Plains at 1200 N. Main in Perryton will host a crafting session to allow participants to make their own hypertufa planters on Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to noon. Hypertufa is a cement-like material that is much lighter in weight.
