Medina named Young Careerist of Month

Marina Medina has been named the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club Young Careerist of the Month.She is payroll coordinator for FirstBank Southwest.She and her husband, Fernando, have two children, Carter, 13, and Abram, 9.The requirements for her job include a minimum of an associate’s degree.

PISD board discusses football field options

Perryton School Board held a special meeting on Nov. 4, with the main item a discussion about the concession stand and fieldhouse at Ranger Field.The board spent considerable time discussing the concession stand and athletic facility proposition of the bond.

United Way drive reaches 62%

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2025 fund drive continued to show progress, and is now well over halfway to the goal.As of Tuesday the campaign had raised $60,078 which is 62% of the $96,000 goal.New 100% Companies added to the list were Panhandle First Bank and Valero.

Voters approve PISD proposition

The Perryton ISD’s proposition and Republicans dominated Ochiltree County election returns in the Nov. 5 election.A total of 3,020 county voters cast ballots, 58% of registered voters.The PISD’s Proposition A was overwhelmingly passed, 1,977 votes for to 849 against.

Juvenile is charged in murder case

A juvenile suspect has been arrested for murder in the death of a Perryton woman.According to Ochiltree County Sheriff Terry Bouchard, Joni Lyn Morgan, 62, of Perryton was found dead in a field north of Rodeo Nights on the evening of Oct. 29.

City council holds hearings on 10 different substandard structures

The Perryton City Council had a long meeting Tuesday evening, with the majority of the time on public hearings and action on 10 severely damaged structures in the city. The issues at each property were presented by Danny Barrett from Texas Community Group and Public Works Director Brandan Knapp.
Perryton High School’s Student Council hosted a Fall Festival on Friday evening at Ranger Field. Carnivalstyle games and activities were set up around the field, while students from campus clubs and organizations set up booths to fundraise, including the PHS shop and woodworking classes, who sold items they had built in class.
