Rites held for Thomas

Johnny “John” Berk Thomas, 74, of Perryton, died Aug. 26, 2026.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 29, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers.

He was born Oct. 29, 1951 in Guymon, OK, and graduated from high school in Tishomingo, OK. He attended Murray State College. He had lived in the Perryton area for 41 years. He married his wife, Jody, in Perryton.

He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Perryton Shriners. He retired from Energy Transfer after working as a meter technician in the petroleum industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernie and Normalee (Barrett) Thomas; and one sister, Zelda Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Jody; two daughters, Buffy Mick Haden of Amarillo and Ashley Gibson of Tulsa, OK; one son, Chance Thomas of Edmond, OK; two sisters, Pat Ellis of Perryton and Norma Hall of Moreland, OK; one brother, Ray Thomas of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the Perryton Masonic Lodge, P.O. Box 113, Perryton.
