It’s seasonal for most of us, of course. Our memories kick into overdrive, dredging up details of long-ago holidays.In my case, Christmas Days of yore were as predictable as the sunrise.

Rifle and Pistol Club to meetThe Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold their yearly members meeting on Thursday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Ochiltree County Expo Building. The club will be discussing new and ongoing projects, as well as election of officers for the year.

Day quilt guild has Christmas party

The Friendship Quilt Guild day group met Dec. 11.Luana Walker told the group that the 120 pillowcases the guild donated to the veterans home in Amarillo were very appreciated.It was announced that an uptown bags class would be held Jan. 11 at Community Worship Center.

The Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association participated in the state TRTA Children’s Book Project. The local unit bought and accepted donations of gently used and new books to give to school children to take home.

Panhandle Chapter recognized at state city clerks meeting

The municipal clerks of the Texas Panhandle have been recognized for their outstanding performance this year by the Texas Municipal Clerks Association (TMCA).The announcement was made at the annual TMCA banquet held in South Padre Island at the end of October.

United Way fund drive now at 90%

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2025 fund drive is closing in on its $96,000 goal. As of Monday, the drive had received $87,144 in donations, which is 90% of its goal.No new 100% Companies were added.

Local businesses, organizations set New Year’s closings

The end of 2024 is upon us, and many Perryton businesses, organizations, and governmental offices will be closed to let their employees celebrate the New Year’s holiday.Perryton Independent School District and Frank Phillips College,Allen Campus are both closed for their holiday breaks.

Julie Burch of Dallas is coming to Perryton next week as part of the Leadership Perryton speaker series.Her session, “Exceptional Customer Service!” will be on Thursday, Jan. 9, at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus. Registration starts at 6 p.m., and the seminar will begin at 6:30 p.m.
