Grid keeps humming during first wintry blast

The state’s power grid withstood its first wintry blast last week with no major outages as snow blanketed much of West and North Texas, and heavy rains hit Central and South Texas. The Texas Tribunereported that ener gy supply comfortably exceeded demand during the latest cold snap.

This weekend’s 86th annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale will spotlight 118 animals and the students who will be exhibiting them. FFA and 4-H members to show 118 animals in annual livestock show

The 86th annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is slated for this weekend, Jan. 17-18. The Perryton High School FFA and the Ochiltree County 4-H members will be showing 118 animals.The categories for this year’s show and sale include steers, heifers, sheep, meat goats, and swine.

Perryton has Wednesday power outage

A power outage last Wednesday afternoon left most of Perryton without electricity.According to Kaley Green, senior media relations representative at Xcel Energy, the power outage began at 2:54 p.m. because of blown insulators in the Perryton Substation.

State’s citrus industry on the brink of disaster

The state’s citrus industry is reeling after a pair of natural disasters — the deadly winter storm of February 2021 and a severe drought, The Texas Tribunereported.Nearly four years after that winter storm, production levels have not recovered.
