Junior livestock show tops over $275,000 in sales

The Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale had another successful weekend. The sale totaled $275,390, which included $53,770 in add-on contributions. That was a drop from last year’s sale by more than $53,500.Showing the grand champion steer was Jake Schickedanz.

At the Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale on Jan. 17-18, Buckle Awards were presented to the exhibitors showing the animals that won Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion for their breed.

The Perryton City Council took care of a short agenda at its meeting Tuesday evening.The council passed a resolution setting the general election for Saturday, May 3.Up for election on the council are Brad Kile, Brad Herring and Brady Burdick.Filing opened on Jan. 15, and will run through Feb. 4.

The Hotel Perryton in the downtown area was demolished last week. The building was originally built in 1929. At the time of its construction, the three-story hotel was considered the finest hotel of its size of any Panhandle city outside of Amarillo and Pampa.
