Courthouse to reopen Monday

The Ochiltree County Courthouse will re-open on Monday with a few restrictions. The courthouse will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. On Fridays, the courthouse will be open from 8 a.m. to noon only.

Ochiltree COVID-19 cases up to 52

Ochiltree General Hospital’s official count of Coronavirus cases went up by four since mid-week, bringing the number of confirmed positive cases in the county to 52. There have been only two deaths connected to the virus, with 18 patients who have fully recovered.

Applications for hotel-motel funding are now available

The City of Perryton is now taking applications from organizations seeking to apply for hotel-motel occupancy tax funds. Applications are available at City Hall. The application will cover events or projects happening between Oct. 1, 2020 through Sept. 30, 2021.

Soon, the Perryton High School Class of 2020 will walk across Ranger Field to receive their diplomas. The graduation ceremony was slated to begin Saturday, May 30, at 11 a.m. Social distancing guidelines were to be in effect.

The Perryton Senior Citizen Center livened up its regular Friday lunches by delivering meals in giant inflatable costumes. People who came to pick up their meals got to enjoy being served by dinosaurs, aliens, cowboys, and Santa Clauses.

Churches throughout the area are having to learn new ways to hold their regular Sunday morning services. With COVID-19 restrictions still limiting access to most sanctuaries, many Perryton churches are relying on the Internet to bring video of services into parishioners’ homes.

Perryton High School has announced the top academic students for the Class of 2020. Leading the class are valedictorian Chloe McGarraugh and salutatorian Madison Attaway. There are 34 honor graduates this year.

PAC set to open Monday with new social distancing rules

Perryton Activity Center will be opening its doors on Monday, May 18, but with extensive new rules to ensure the safety of PAC members and staff. The PAC’s new hours will be 5-9 a.m. and 5-9 p.m. Monday through Friday. The building will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
