Rangers open season with Dalhart

The Perryton Rangers will open their 98th football season this Friday night when they take on the Dalhart Golden Wolves at Ranger Field. Game time is 7 p.m. Masks will be required when entering the stadium, and seating will be at 50% capacity, which for Ranger Field is 2,500.

Commissioners okay proposed 2020-21 tax rate

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met for their regular meeting on Monday morning at the county courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved a proposed property tax rate for the county. The proposed maintenance and operations fund rate would be 61.

Rifle and Pistol Club to meet Sept. 3

The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Expo Center. The club will discuss upcoming matches and events, as well as changes due to virus restrictions. All are welcome to attend.

4-H enrollment night set for Tuesday

Ochiltree County 4-H enrollment will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 5-7 p.m. in the arena at the Expo Center. New and returning members are invited to attend. Information about projects and how to get involved in 4-H for the 2020-21 year will be provided.

Rifle Club sets Steel Challenge match

The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly Steel Challenge match on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Chuck Waller Range across from Wolf Creek Park. The match will involve three challenge courses — 5 to Go, Pendulum, and Roundabout.

Library announces adjusted hours

Perry Memorial Library has announced new hours. The library will be open from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, and from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Patrons who are at high risk can call ahead to make appointments to come in at 9 a.m. Monday through Friday.

2020 PHS Reunion postponed

The 2020 Perryton High School Ex-Students and Ex-Teachers Reunion has been postponed until fall 2021 due to current challenges. The reunion was originally scheduled for August. For reunion updates go to the “PHS All Classes Reunion” Facebook page.

Farmers Market set for Saturdays

The Ochiltree County Farmers Market at the Perryton National Bank parking lot will continue every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through August. Vendors of fruits and vegetables, as well as handmade and homemade items are welcome. The fee for a vendor table is $25 per season.

Officers to deliver groceries, help

The Perryton Police Department, in conjunction with United Supermarket and Lowe’s Market, are offering grocery delivery to any “sheltered in place” seniors ages 60 or older. Those interested can place their orders by calling Lowe’s between 8-10 a.m. or United between 7-9 a.m. on Monday or Thursday.
