Police receive award for service to elderly

The Top of Texas Silver Star Board presented the Perryton Police Department with an award on Thursday in recognition of outstanding service the department has shown for Perryton’s elderly population and for people with disabilities.

On May 13, the winning team of the Thursday night scramble at the city golf course won with score of 31, in a three way shoot out for first place. Team members were Cory Graves, Jason Lilly, Ernesto Puga and Tyson Painter. Lilly hit to thee feet.

Food manager training set in Pampa

A professional food manager certification training course will be offered May 25 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Gray County. The program will be at the Gray County Annex, 12125 Frederic St., Pampa. The fee will be $115, and preregistration is due May 21.

Members of the Ochiltree County 4-H archery project held their 2021 County Archery Competition on Tuesday, May 4, at the Expo Center. In the senior division, Tatum Oquin took first place, with Austin Merrick in second. In the intermediate division, Rylan Oquin won first place.

City’s sales tax payment is up over 10% in May

The City of Perryton received some good news with its latest sales tax payment. The May payment was $273,247, up 10.35% from last May. For the year, however, payments are a little over 7% behind 2020, with $1.069 million so far. Most area cities also saw increases in their May payments.
