Frank Phillips College president Glendon Forgey visited Perryton on Thursday for meetings at Frank Phillips College Allen Campus, and while he was in town, he stopped by for a haircut at the college’s Cosmetology Annex to commemorate the completion of the program’s first class in Perryton.

The Farm-to-Table Beef Series, hosted by theT exas A&M AgriLife Extension Servicein Potter County , is scheduled each Tuesday in the Aug. 6-27 timeframe.

Slover makes hole-in-one

Izzy Slover notched a hole-in-one on the Perryton golf course. She made the shot on hole no. 7, using a wedge for the 83 yard hit from the junior tee. Witnessing the feat was Shane Slover.

Coral luck

Red coral became a symbol of immortality to the ancient Greeks, presumably because of its branching shape and vibrant color. The Greeks believed it to be a panacea and protector against gout, poisons and enchantments. Red and pink corals are still said to bring good luck to their owners.

CrimeStoppers ‘Fast Cash’

On Aug. 4, 2021, the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department had outstanding warrants on the following people: David L. Garrard, no personal information was available. Last known address was Perryton. There is one misdemeanor warrant for Garrard for issuance of bad checks.

IRS reminds heavy vehicle owners of Aug. 31 highway use tax return deadline

The Internal Revenue Service reminds those who have registered, or are required to register, large trucks and buses that it’s time to file Tax Year 2021 Form 2290, Heavy Highway Vehicle Use Tax Return. The deadline to file and pay is Aug. 31, 2021, for vehicles used on the road during July 2021.

Home burglarized

A burglary was investigated by police during the week. Christian Espino, 105 S. Indiana, reported a Sentry safe had been stolen from the residence. It contained two firearms, ammunition and important documents. Total value was estimated at around $950.

DSHS awards $10 million in grants for vaccine efforts

As COVID-19 vaccination rates lag and cases of the delta variant spike, the Texas Department of State Health Serviceswill award $10 million to local groups working to promote vaccination efforts.
