LIBRARY BOOK SALE OPENS

The Jennie June Club of Perryton is holding its annual book sale early this year to help clear more donated books to help free up storage space in Perry Memorial Library. The book sale officially opened on Monday, Aug. 16, and will continue for at least one month and maybe longer.

OGH board sets proposed tax rate

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met for their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening at the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. The board approved a proposed ad valorem tax rate of 55 cents per $100 valuation for 2021-22.

Large rainstorm blasts county

An intense thunderstorm blew through Ochiltree County on Monday, bringing furious downpours and plenty of rain to most of the county. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total for Monday was 1.20 inches.

Wheatheart Rodeo set this weekend

The Perryton Rodeo Association will host the 23rd Annual Wheatheart Rodeo on Friday, Aug. 20, and Saturday, Aug. 21. Each performance begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Ochiltree County arena. Mutton bustin’ for children under age 7 and under 50 pounds will be at 7 p.m.

Active COVID-19 cases drop in county

Active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County have fallen slightly since last week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 have fallen to 21, down from 23 last Thursday afternoon.

The Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade is scheduled for this Saturday, Aug. 21, beginning at 10 a.m. on Main Street, and local organizations and businesses are hard at work building their floats for the parade.
