Wolf Creek Chapter DAR celebrates Constitution Week Sept. 17-23

At the request of the Wolf Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Perryton Mayor Kerry Symons signed a proclamation designating the week of Sept. 17-23 as Constitution Week. This Constitution week marks the 234th anniversary of the signing of that document.

Active COVID-19 cases in county are up slightly

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochil-tree County have risen slightly in the latter half of this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 have risen to 36, up from 34 on Tuesday afternoon.

CORRECTIONS OFFICERS COMMENDED FOR SAVING LIFE—Two corrections officers at the Ochiltree County Jail have received commendations after helping save the life of an inmate last month. The officers responded to an inmate having a heart attack at the jail on Aug. 31.

Tuition program open enrollment underway

Open enrollment in the state’s Texas Tuition Promise Fund began Sept. 1 and runs through the end of February. The plan allows parents and others to lock in today’s tuition and fees at state public colleges and universities.

Several cases of stolen property were investigated by police during the week. Luis Gonzales reported passenger ramps had been stolen from his semi-truck while it was parked at Waterhole 83. They were valued at $3,000. Vanelly Gonzalez, 106 S. Cedar, reported a burglary at her residence.

Five States Beef and Range Conference set The Five States Beef and Range Conference will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, at the Ochiltree County Expo Center in Perryton. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the programs will start at 10 a.m.
