Hospital board approves surgical purchases

The Ochiltree County Hospital District’s Board of Directors met on Monday evening, April 25, in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. Among other items on the agenda, the board approved the purchase of a cleaner/sterilizer for the hospital’s surgical center.

Funeral service for fallen Marine set for Thursday

The funeral service for Pvt. Waldean Black, a Perryton resident killed 80 years ago in the attack on Pearl Harbor, will take place on Thursday, April 28, at 3 p.m. Thursday has been designated Pvt. Waldean Black Day by the City of Perryton.

Perryton Stone Age Fair set this Saturday at Expo

The annual Perryton Stone Age Fair is scheduled for this Saturday, April 30. The popularity of the event has necessitated a move from its longtime location at the Museum of the Plains to the Ochiltree County Expo Center. The fair will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Teacher in alleged incident arrested

A teacher involved in an alleged incident of educator misconduct has been arrested. David Alexander Drew, 32, was arrested April 20 on a second degree felony charge of improper relationship between an educator and a student involving a 17-year-old female student at Perryton High School.

Construction projects at Ochiltree General Hospital are continuing to move toward completion. The hospital’s surgery center is on schedule to be completed by the end of September. The project will consist of two surgery rooms and a remodel of the post-anesthesia care unit.
