Rites held for Winder infant

Laikyn Grace Winder, infant daughter of Blaine and Ashlyn (Miner) Winder of Spearman, died March 24, 2022 in Fort Worth. Services were held Wednesday, March 30, at Gruver United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Chapel officiating.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and CASA of the High Plains is raising awareness of the need for more dedicated members of the community to step up and become CASA volunteers, and help end child abuse and neglect, through supporting children and their families.

Dr. Shannon Norris-Parish of Las Cruces, NM, was the last speaker in the Leadership Perryton series. She spoke on “The Journey from One Star to Five: Winning Customer Relations” at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus on Thursday evening.

OGH finds no positive COVID cases in county

Ochiltree General Hospital has again tested no new cases of COVID-19 this week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, OGH completed 29 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with no positive cases. Kinnard said the last positive case at the hospital was tested on March 17.

Perryton Stone Age Fair moving to Expo Center

The popularity of the annual Stone Age Fair has necessitated a move from its longtime location at the Museum of the Plains to the Ochiltree County Expo Center. This year’s Stone Age Fair will take place at the Expo on Saturday, April 30. The fair will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
