Rotary Club taking flag service orders

The Perryton Rotary Club is taking renewals and sign up for the flag service for the residents of Perryton. The club will provide a 3’ x 5’ nylon flag with sewn strip and embroidered flag be place at home, businesses or in group displays in the community. The flags will be displayed from 7 a.m.

Several burglaries, thefts investigated

Several burglaries and thefts were investigated by police during the week. A vehicle burglary at 123 SW 15 was reported. Some 25 Norriseal Wellman Mizer retrofit valves were stolen from the bed of a pickup parked at the residence. Total value is $7,000. A residence at 17 N.

Kids’ fishing tournament set at Lake Fryer The Wolf Creek Advisory Board will hold its annual Kids’ Fishing Tournament at Wolf Creek Park on Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. to noon. Entry fee is just one dollar, and no license is required for participants.

HONORING A HERO—Students from Williams Intermediate lined up along Main Street on last Thursday afternoon as a funeral procession for Pvt. Waldean Black, a Perryton Marine who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, traveled through Perryton on its way to the Ochiltree County Cemetery.

May 7 election set for school board

This Saturday’s election will decide two positions on the Perryton School Board, and the fate of two proposed amendments statewide. Early voting ended on Tuesday, May 3 in the joint election for the school board and the propositions. Both will appear on the same ballot.

OGH still reporting no new COVID-19 cases in county

COVID-19 cases are still very low in Ochiltree County. Ochiltree General Hospital reported no new cases of the virus this week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, OGH completed 30 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with no positive cases.

The public turned out for the 2022 Stone Age Fair on Saturday at the Ochiltree County Expo Center. The annual event is sponsored by Courson Archaeological Research and is noted for being the largest noncommercial Indian artifact show in the United States.
