Texas State Parks share six tips for staying safe on the trails

As we enter the summer months, Texans are heading to Texas State Parks to enjoy time outdoors. Last year, 43 state parks reported 102 heat-related illnesses in humans and pets. Since Jan. 1, 54 heat-related incidents have already been reported, compared to 34 reported by this time last year.

Amateur radio group participates in National Field Day

Amateur radio members of the Top of Panhandle ARC participated in the 2022 AARL National Field Day on June 26. The purpose of the event was to practice communication skills in case of a disaster. A total of seven people from Perryton, Booker and Pampa met at Dempsey Malaney’s ranch on Wolf Creek.

Business vandalized

A couple of cases for vandalism were investigated by police during the week. Classic Cuts, 14 SW Ninth, reported the front glass door of the business had been shattered, and the lock to the front door was also damaged. Estimated damage is $1,000.

Have kids; will travel: Master vacationing with young children

Commissioners hold short meeting Monday

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday, June 27, in the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The meeting was one of the commissioners’ shortest in months, with all of the meeting’s business getting wrapped up in just under seven minutes.

Perryton Lions Club members got together on Saturday morning to get fireworks unloaded and fuses installed in anticipation of their annual fireworks show coming up on Monday, the Fourth of July, at Wolf Creek Park.

Council reviews proposed budget

The Perryton City Council met in regular session Tuesday evening with department heads at City Hall to review the proposed budget for the upcoming 2022-23 fiscal year. City Manager David Landis reviewed the proposed budget.
