The standard U.S. railroad width (4 feet, 8.5 inches) is directly derived from the width of Roman war chariots. This is because the English expatriates who designed the U.S. railroad system based their measurements on the pre-railroad tramways built in England.

Rifle and Pistol Club sets monthly meeting The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, June 2, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Ochiltree County Expo Building. The club will be discussing new and ongoing projects.

City taking applications for H-M funding

The City of Perryton is now taking applications from organizations seeking to apply for hotel-motel occupancy tax funds. Applications are available at City Hall. The application will cover events or projects happening between Oct. 1, 2022 through Sept. 30, 2023.
