Perry Memorial Library started their annual Summer Reading Program this week. In addition to sharing some good books with kids and offering details about the prizes awarded for reading during the program, librarians and volunteers also helped kids put together some fun summer crafts.

PISD board meets in special session

In a special meeting at noon on Monday, the Perryton School Board dealt with personnel items, the student transfer policy and the recent board vacancy. At the beginning of the meeting, the board went into executive session for around an hour and a half to discuss personnel and safety devices.

COVID cases rise again in county

Ochiltree County’s COVID-19 cases are again on the rise.According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, Ochiltree General Hospital completed 48 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with nine positive cases. Last week, the hospital reported five COVID-19 cases.

The Children’s Fishing Tournament returned to Lake Fryer and Wolf Creek Park last Saturday, with almost 200 kids competing to hook the best, most, biggest, and weirdest fish in the lake. Among the kids dropping their lines in the water were Carson Barclay, age 7, at left, and Aiden Lamm, 6.

Free baseball clinic scheduled The Liberal BeeJays and Perryton Rangers will host a free baseball clinic on June 13-15 from 10 a.m. to noon at Mike Hargrove Field. The clinic is open to kids in grades 1-8 and will be taught by PHS Ranger baseball coaches and current and former players.
