Saturday marks the biggest day of Celebration

The biggest day of the annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration is Saturday, with many events scheduled throughout the day. Those with a hearty appetite can start their Saturday off with the annual free breakfast at United Supermarket, which is scheduled for 6-9 a.m.

COVID cases fall in county

COVID-19 results from Ochiltree General Hospital have decreased since last week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, Ochiltree General Hospital completed 57 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with 13 positive cases, down from 19 last week.

Hemphill County Mini Ag Conference is set for Sept. 12

The Hemphill County Mini Ag Conference will be hosted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service office on Sept. 12 at the Hemphill County Exhibition Center, Sand Sage Room, 10865 Exhibition Road, Canadian. The program will be from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Registration is $25, and lunch is included.

Burglaries and criminal mischief reports topped police activity for the week. Aburglary was reported at 14 SW Second. A Microsoft Surface Pro laptop, valued at $1,770 was taken. A vehicle burglary was reported at 2305 S. Georgia. A debit card, loose change and keys were stolen.
