Damage investigated

Criminal mischief incidents were among the reports investigated by police during the week. A residence at 1305 S. Amherst had rocks thrown at a window, damaging it. Juveniles are suspected in the case. Another case of criminal mischief was reported at 13 SW 13th.

Rabies case found in area last week

It has been a while since rabies surfaced in the area, but Dr. Randy Skaggs, DVM has reported a case in the Booker area. Skaggs said the disease was in a young, bottle-fed calf. Several people were exposed and are currently undergoing treatment and vaccinations.

Commissioners approve hiring new sheriff’s deputy

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The commissioners approved the hiring of a new deputy for the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department, as well as a $3,600 sign-on bonus if he works for the county for 36 months.

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Expo Center on Monday, Oct. 10. Ochiltree County Judge Charles Kelly presented the Gold Star Awards to Karson Pribble and Tatum Oquin. The Gold Star Award is the highest county award available to 4-H members.
