Meraz named PPW Young Careerist of the Month

Britney Meraz has been selected as the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club. Meraz is chief financial officer for the Perryton Independent School District. She and her husband, Jose Jr., have four children: Zoey, 11; Zyian 8; Kennedy, 6; and Jose III, 1.

It’s a race for city council, with one more filing

The Perryton City Council election drew another candidates this week, bringing the total to four seeking a spot on the council. Shirley Howard has filed for a position on the council, joining Veronica Herrera and incumbents Shae Cunningham and Brad Kile on the ballot.

City council hears audit report, sets joint election

The Perryton City Council heard a complimentary review of its staff and accounting practices at its meeting Tuesday evening. John Merriss with Doshier, Pickens and Francis, LLC, presented the annual outside audit for the city for fiscal year 2021-22.
Coffee Memorial Blood Center in Amarillo held a blood drive on Tuesday afternoon at Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus. The drive had a goal of 40 units of blood, but was only able to collect 28 units. A total of 38 people showed up for the drive, but 10 of those were deferred. Rifle and Pistol Club to meet The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Expo Center. The club will discuss new and ongoing projects. All are welcome — new memberships and renewals will be available.
