OGH receives federal grants

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met on Monday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. Along other items on the agenda, the board learned that federal grant money from the Healthcare Relief Fund had been distributed to the district.

United Way drive over $100,000

The Ochiltree United Way 2023 fund drive has now passed the $100,000 mark as 2022 draws to a close. As of this week, the campaign has received $100,543 in donations, which is 106% of its $94,300 goal. The extra funds will be also allocated among the member agencies at a later date.

Ochiltree County 4-H’s Clover Club — for kids in kindergarten through second grade — held their Christmas party last week at the Ochiltree County Expo Center. In addition to games of musical chairs, the kids also got a visit from the Grinch, who reluctantly handed out candy canes and holiday cheer.

The Wreaths Across America event was held for the eighth year at Ochiltree Cemetery on Saturday morning, Dec. 17. The event was sponsored by the Wolf Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

PISD teachers awarded grants

Four Perryton ISD teachers have been awarded grants to help pay for teacher certification costs. The grant stipends, ranging from $7,500-$9,000, were awarded by PISD superintendent James Mireles and assistant superintendent Dr. Maria Rocque.
