Meraz named PPW Young Careerist of the Month

Britney Meraz has been selected as the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club. Meraz is chief financial officer for the Perryton Independent School District. She and her husband, Jose Jr., have four children: Zoey, 11; Zyian 8; Kennedy, 6; and Jose III, 1.

The Perryton City Council election drew another candidates this week, bringing the total to four seeking a spot on the council. Shirley Howard has filed for a position on the council, joining Veronica Herrera and incumbents Shae Cunningham and Brad Kile on the ballot.

The Perryton City Council heard a complimentary review of its staff and accounting practices at its meeting Tuesday evening. John Merriss with Doshier, Pickens and Francis, LLC, presented the annual outside audit for the city for fiscal year 2021-22.
