County gets a bit more rainfall

Perryton and Ochiltree County didn’t receive as much rain as had fallen in previous weeks, but a bit more precipitation fell on the county earlier this week.

City is gearing up for an active mosquito season

After almost two years of drought, Perryton has enjoyed almost six weeks of rain. And while rain may be great for grass and flowers, it also means it’s prime mosquito season again. All it takes is a little moisture in a container to grow mosquitoes.
Local county residents are turning out for the Ochiltree County Farmers Market every Saturday for their pick of farm-fresh vegetables, homemade bread and pastries, and handmade crafts and quilts. The Farmers Market will be open in the Perryton National Bank parking lot from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through mid-September.

June sales tax payment shows 10% decrease

The City of Perryton’s June sales tax payment showed another drop, as did several other cities. The city’s payment of $213,147 was down 10% from June 2022. Its year to date payments of $1.47 million are also down close to 9%. Amarillo, which has typically seen increases each month, was down 1.
