Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but when scammers pose as the IRS it means trouble for taxpayers. Identity thieves may contact taxpayers through fraudulent calls, emails, texts or social media messages pretending to be the IRS.

ARCHERS COMPETE AT TRI-STATE FAIR

Two archers from Ochiltree County 4-H competed in the first-ever archery competition last week at the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo. According to 4-H archery coach Robert Flores, the archery program in 4-H currently has 10 participants, but they are always ready to welcome more.

The annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade on Main Street Aug.19 attracted viewers from all over the area. The second-place prize winner of the automotive category was Richesin Concrete.

Jennie June Club begins its new year on Sept. 13

The Jennie June Club met Sept. 13 at the Senior Citizen Center. The blessing was given by president Barbara Johnson, and members enjoyed visiting with one another over lunch. Johnson conducted the business meeting, which opened for the reading of the collect.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, thousands of Ochiltree County residents turned out to watch the Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade. The winner of the Small Band category was the Booker High School Band.
