Rangers lose close one to Dalhart

The Rangers hosted the Dalhart Wolves Friday night, and lost a close 33-30 contest to the Wolves. The Rangers fought hard, but Dalhart’s quarterback, Kyler Read, and their big offensive and defensive lines were hard to stop. The game began on a high note for the Rangers.

Counties can’t ban solar farms, AG rules

An attempt by Franklin County officials to ban solar farms has failed after provisional Attorney General Angela Colmenero ruled that counties don’t have specific authority to do so, theT exas Standard reported.

Council adopts new fire ordinance

The Perryton City Council adopted an ordinance on fire limits and heard an update on recovery efforts at its meeting Tuesday evening. The ordinance reduces the four hour and two hour fire rating zones.

County commissioners set proposed budget, tax rate

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners set the 2023-2024 proposed property tax rate for the county at $0.566532 per $100 valuation. Last year’s tax rate was $0.596698 per $100 valuation.

The Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade brought thousands of people out on Saturday, Aug. 19, to watch the spectacle. The winner in the Commercial Float category was First National Bank.
