Several people in jail

The Ochiltree County jail has been busy the past two weeks: Raymond A. Martinez, 28, was arrested on fourth degree felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, less than one gram and delivery of marijuana, over one-quarter ounce but less than five pounds.

United Way to launch 2024 drive

The Ochiltree United Way will kick off its 2024 fund drive Nov. 1. The drive is beginning about a month later than usual this year. The goal for this year’s fund drive is $94,300, which was allocated among nine agencies, which is the same as in 2023.

County 4-H holds annual awards presentation

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Ochiltree County Expo Center on Monday, Oct. 9. Ochiltree County Judge Charles Kelly presented the Gold Star Awards to Kile Merrick and Rylan Oquin. The Gold Star Award is the highest county award available to 4-H members.

Commissioners approve record book preservation

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved a plan to preserve old record books in the offices of the County Clerk, District Clerk, and Justice of the Peace.
