Ochiltree County Jail activity during the past week included: Malaquias Marco Vaquera, 22, was arrested on 10 warrants for fourth degree felony offenses of credit or debit card abuse. He was released on $30,000 bond.

State Park day pass reservations for April 8 will open 8 a.m. March 8 (CST). Those hoping to view the total eclipse from a state park location can call the Texas State Parks Reservations Center at 512-3898900 or go online for all parks except Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

Olivarez squeaks out victory in primary election

Some 1,460 county voters cast ballots in the March 5 primary election, a 28.5% total turnout. That included 1,432 in the Republican primary and 28 in the Democratic primary. The only locally contested race on the ballot was for Ochiltree County constable.

PISD board adopts 2024-25 calendar

The Perryton School Board approved the 202425 school calendar among other items at its meeting Feb. 29. The board adopted next year’s calendar with a school start date of Aug. 14, and ending May 22. Graduation was set for May 24.
