Limas named Young Careerist

Sandra Limas has been named the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club.She and her husband, Oscar Montoya, have five children, Mauro Limas, 25; Maurice Limas, 23; Maurezmo “Memo” Limas, 21; Aislyn Flores, 21; and Jaquelyn Montoya, 17.
Young anglers showed up to compete in the Children’s Fishing Tournament at Lake Fryer and Wolf Creek Park at the beginning of June. The annual fishing tourney is hosted by the Wolf Creek Park Improvement Board. The top prize winners in the ages 11-14 category were, from left, Annalise Cotta (third place), Autumn Gonzales (second place), and Khole Scott (first place).

When writer William Goldman’s daughters were young, he offered to tell them a story. One wanted to hear a story about a princess. The other wanted to hear a story about a bride. So Goldman combined the ideas and wrote “The Princess Bride.”

PISD board hears STAAR results

The Perryton School Board met Monday evening, discussing STAAR test results, construction, and lunch prices.Assistant superintendent Donna Hale reported that the preliminary campus STAAR scores showed a dip overall, with the exception of Williams Intermediate, which saw a slight increase.
Frank Phillips College Allen Campus, ran the first week of their annual Kids College this week, with lots of activities for kids from ages 5-12. During Farm Camp, kids got to meet interesting animals, including a pair of African spurred tortoises, owned by Dr. Kristina Keeth, a veterinarian from Spearman.

Fireworks show set at Lake Fryer

The Perryton Lions Club will host its Annual Fourth of July Fireworks at Lake Fryer in Wolf Creek Park on Thursday, July 4.This annual fireworks show by the Lions Club is a long-standing tradition in the community.The display will begin just after dusk, about 9:309:45 p.m.
