Commissioners okay salary supplement for Law Enforcement Center

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse.Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved a salary supplement for staff at the Law Enforcement Center.The county will not have to spend its own money on the supplement.

Day quilt group names challenge winners

The Friendship Quilt Guild day group met Oct. 9 at Community Worship Center.The winners of the 2024 challenge, which was working with just two colors, were announced. In home decor, Barbara Hawkins won first place, Kathy Allred was second and Sheril Kelly took third.

Rangers drop close one to Liberty

The Rangers made the long trip to Lubbock to take on the Lubbock Cooper Liberty Pirates in their district opener last Friday.The Rangers came up just short in the contest, losing to the Pirates, 43-40.The Pirates came out strong in the game, scoring on a 68 yard run in its first possession.

Members who accumulated 150 points or more received a certificate and the Donnie Pshigoda Points Scholarship, a $75 scholarship, sponsored by the Ochiltree County Soil and Water Conservation District in honor of Donnie Pshigoda. United Way drive tops 34% of goal

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2025 fund drive added substantially to its total this week.As ofWednesday, the campaign had raised $32,242, which is 34% of the $96,000 goal Three more 100% Companies were added to the list, meaning every employee also contributed to United Way.

City’s sales tax payment shows 17.5% decrease

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment for October saw a significant drop for the month.The city received $252,248, which is 17.5% less than last October. For the year, however, the news is a little better. Its payments to date of $2.52 million are down just 2.4%.

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Expo Center on Monday, Oct. 14.Kyle Oquin presented the Junior and Senior Leadership Awards, which require a completed record book and are based on student leadership in 4-H.The Junior Leadership Award was presented to Clay Oquin.
