County receives more precipitation

Ochiltree County had a pleasantly wet week, as a pair of rainstorms brought needed precipitation to the area.One rainstorm hit around the middle of last week, while the other gave the county another dose of rain on the weekend.KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total for the period was 1.60 inches.

The Perryton Kiwanis Club named Kerry Symons as their Workhorse of the Year on Tuesday evening. This was the second time Symons has received the Workhorse award; he previously earned the honor in 2007. He has been Perryton’s mayor since 2018 and has been on the Perryton City Council since 2000.

4-H to hold 5K Run and WalkOchiltree County 4-H will hold a 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, Oct. 12, as support of National 4-H Week. The event will take place at the Ochiltree County Expo Center at 402 Expo Drive. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m.

Hospital board approves budget and tax rate

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met on Monday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital.Among other items on the agenda, the hospital board approved the budget and tax rate for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.The tax rate was set at .

United Way to launch 2025 fund drive on Oct. 1

The Ochiltree United Way will launch its annual fund drive on Oct. 1.The goal this year is $96,000, slightly higher than last year. The increase is due to increased funding for The Bridge and the addition of the Girl Scouts, which did not apply for funding last year.
