Jennie June Club discusses book fair

The assistant fire chief of the Perryton Fire Department died Sunday evening from injuries sustained while fighting a fire.Assistant Fire Chief Scott Glass died on Sunday after he suffered a serious head injury while on a fire call Thursday night in Perryton.On Thursday at 10:44 p.m.

Council okays two grant submissions

The Perryton City Council approved two grant proposal submissions, and officially raised golf course fees at its meeting Tuesday evening.One of the grants was for $50,000 to the regional solid waste grant program through the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission.

Perryton native Mike Hargrove, left, was honored as the first inductee into the Perryton High School Ranger and Rangerette Hall of Fame. Hargrove played 12 years in the Major League, for the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians.

Early voting is brisk in first days

Early voting in the Nov. 5 general election began Monday, and so far turnout has been good.As of late Wednesday morning, 670 ballots have been cast early by Ochiltree County voters, more than in the 2020 general election.The early voting period will run through Friday, Nov. 1.

Perryton High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted more than 30 new members into the organization last Wednesday.The National Honor Society is a national organization dedicated to recognizing high school students who have attained high levels of academic achievement.
