Veterans Land Board launches ‘Valentines for Veterans’ campaign

The Texas Veterans Land Board (VLB) kicked off its month-long campaign to send Valentines cards to the nearly 1,000 residents of its nine state veterans homes. The VLB urges Texans to take part in this mission to show these courageous men and women that they are an integral part of our communities.

Day quilt group has program on design boards

The day group of the Friendship Quilt Guild met Jan. 12 at Community Worship Center for their meeting and a potluck lunch. The program was given by Pam Sanders from the night group. She showed how to make a design board. Members then worked on their own boards. Ilene Floyd conducted the meeting.

Cowan, Alaniz are named Rotary Students of Month

The Perryton Rotary Club has named PHS seniors Kilee Cowan and Jonathan Alaniz as the Students of the Month for January. The students and their parents were guests at the club’s meeting Jan. 6. The students also spoke to the club about their activities at PHS and their future plans.

PHS powerlifting opens the season

The weights have already begun to be slung around as the powerlifting season at PHS has kicked off. The Texas powerhouse looks to compete for state titles again this year under the direction of Coach Casey Aruda. The Ranger and Rangerette teams opened the season in Panhandle on Saturday.
