Lady Eagles too much for the Rettes

The Rangerette softball team faced a very talented Lady Eagle team on Friday in Canyon. The Lady Eagles have a great combination of strong pitching and power hitters positioned up and down the batting order.

Rettes hounded by Borger Lady Bulldogs

The Rangerette softball team opened district play at home on Tuesday against the Borger Lady Bulldogs. Fielding errors cost the Rettes a shot at the victory despite solid hitting and good pitching. Borger jumped out to a commanding lead of 12-0 in the first two innings.

The Rangerette softball team managed to sneak in two games over the spring break week as they get ready for district play. Perryton opened play on Thursday in Plainview against the Lady Bulldogs. The Rangerettes struggled in the batter’s box against a very talented Lady Bulldog hurler.

Ranger golfers open district play in Pampa

The Perryton Rangers had a solid first round of district golf in Pampa on Tuesday. The Rangers currently are positioned in second place, well within striking distance of the leading team from Canyon.

Two Rangerette golfers compete in district

The Rangerette golf team has battled limited numbers playing this season and have not had enough to field a team. That has not stopped two talented Perryton golfers from competing as individuals for the red and white. The opening round of two rounds of district play was held on Monday in Borger.

The Rangerette powerlifting team is dominant. The team traveled to the state meet in Corpus Christi last Friday and overpowered the field. The Perryton lifters overwhelmed the competition to bring home the state championship as a team. No other team was even close to Perryton’s totals.

Ranger golf team wins Amarillo Relays

The Ranger golf team battled miserable weather, with cold temperatures and rain, in the annual two-day Amarillo Relays Tournament. Perryton was placed in Division 2 of the large tournament which hosts teams from all over the region.

PHS tennis playing well

The Perryton High School tennis teams continued its excellent season with play in Borger and Amarillo last week. As district play nears, the teams are striking the ball well and landing tough shots. Defensively, the teams are improving each week.

PHS teams win home meet

Both the Rangers and Rangerettes took the championship at their home track meet last week. The weather was less than ideal, but the athletes battled through the mess. Track and nasty weather go hand-in-hand in the Texas Panhandle. The Rangers took first with a team total of 237 points.
